APPENDIX 1: Coursework:

The coursework is made of two parts:

1. Individual assignment (20%)

See separate section below.

2. Online quiz (10%)

An online quiz consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions covering lectures

up to Financial instruments (including text chapters 4, 6, 7, 14, 17, 18, 19

& 32) as denoted by # on the previous page. The online quiz has to be

completed within 60 minutes and can be attempted only once.

Individual assignment (2,000 words)

Choose a company* that is listed on the Singapore Exchange.

Using its latest published annual report, critically analyse its sustainability

reporting and segmental reporting note for your chosen company. Evaluate to

what extent it complies with the Global Reporting Initiative and IFRS 8

Operating Segments respectively and its usefulness to users.

* Make sure your chosen company is different from your classmate’s. Submit

your chosen company to your tutor for approval.

Important notice – The student is required to submit one set of the

individual assignment separately.

Word Count

The word count should not exceed 2000 words excluding reference list,

appendices, the cover page, abstract, glossary and list of tables, figures, charts

and abbreviation. Tables are expected to be primarily for the presentation of

numerical data. There is NO 10% margin. The word count should be stated at

the top of your submission. Words that exceed the permitted word count will not

read beyond the stated word count. A falsely stated word-count is an

assessment offence.

Referencing Requirements

All sources should be acknowledged and appropriately cited within your work,

following the University's approved referencing conventions. [APA 6th ed] For

reader recover your source easily and to avoid being accused of plagiarism.

Formatting

The work should be word processed. Font size should be between 11 and 14

and easy to read e.g. calibre, arial, times new roman. Line spacing should be

between 1.5 and 2 with (approx.) 4 cm margins all round. Pages must be

numbered. Print on one side of the paper only.
