5) This week we are talking about the need to critically evaluate the sources from which we get our information [whether it be for work, academic, or personal purposes]. What specific examples can you provide from your own experience or that you've heard about that demonstrate what happens when individuals take their sources at face value without applying their critical thinking skills (meaning they trust them without verifying the credibility of the information)?

In our daily lives, we are surrounded by persuasive messages: advertisements, political campaigns, business requests, public service announcements. . . the list goes on and on. Why? Because persuasion (when used appropriately) is an effective tool to ​compel people to act​. Describe a time when a persuasive message prompted action on your part. What specific aspects of the message prompted your action?

7) In Week 3, we discussed document design and times when the visual appeal of documents or logos have impacted your impression of a particular company. This week, I want you to think particularly about a time that a visual such as a photograph or a graphic image containing specific data persuaded you toward a particular position or idea. What was it specifically about the visual and how it was used that made that impression?
