9.5 Research Design: Completed Research Manuscript (PLG1)
The research manuscript you develop should adhere to the current Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. In particular, the manuscript structure should conform to the provisions in relevant chapters of the Manual and include the following:
· Cover page (title, author name, and institutional affiliation)
· Abstract
· Introduction (problem, importance, literature review, and hypothesis or question)
· Method (all relevant subparts)
· References
· Appendices (if appropriate)
Length of the manuscript will depend on how you construct the sections, however, the main body of text (excluding cover page, abstract, references, and appendices) should be no less than 12 pagesand generally should not exceed 15 pages. Use Times New Roman and font size of 12-point with 1 inch margins. All other punctuation should conform to provisions of the APA Manual.
The manuscript you construct should not be prepared using the ERAU guidelines for a capstone proposal or a thesis prospectus. The product for this course is not intended to serve as an approved capstone proposal or thesis prospectus, although some benefit should be gained toward your eventual completion of that degree requirement. Your research manuscript, when prepared according to APA style and format, should be suitable as a draft for later submission to a journal editor for a peer-reviewed publication upon executing the methodology and completing the analysis.
· Proper problem identification and demonstration of importance.
· Highlighted literature and relevance with the problem.
· Application of a valid research methodology with proper statistical assessment.
· Persuasive explanation of how results are presented.
· Adherence to the APA Publication Manual.
