Identifying and assessing the usage of latest APA 7.0 version
The latest version of APA consists of various significant modifications. In comparison to APA 6, the new version is easy to use because its features are easy to understand and practice. Students, while writing research papers, are supposed to follow the guidelines stringently. The latest version has been released in October 2019. Hence, it can be used fully from 2020 onwards. The American Psychological Association (APA) is responsible for incorporating modifications and publishing new versions (Brenner et al., 2019). The 7th edition is ready to use because almost all areas have been modified. In the case of punctuation, citations, layout, language, and the reference list, several changes have been made.
For example, in the case of APA 6, students were supposed to list the type of eBook they are using (PDF or Kindle). Now, the rule is no longer applicable. The term “Retrieved from” was used after notifying the URL. Now, students do not have to mention the phrase. Running head was preceded by the title of the paper, along with page number. The rule is not valid now. Several other modifications have been made so that students can complete their paper quickly and within the given time frame. Earlier, while writing papers, only “Times New Roman” is allowed to use along with 12 fonts. Nowadays, Arial, Calibri, Georgia, Unicode, and Lucida Sans can be used (Mandernach, Zafonte & Taylor, 2016). Nevertheless, the font sizes differ in each case. The necessity of following only one guideline should be understood, and colleges and universities are supposed to highlight the requirements to avoid confusion within the academic community.
Testing the maturity of APA 7.0
The 7th edition is well suited for research papers. However, it has been released just now, and it will reach its maturity stage by 2020. The adoption of the new style will increase when new sessions start. Since APA 7.0 outlines the importance of using bias-free language while mentioning people and entities, the chances of adoption of the unique style are faster. Students can use ‘they” and “their” instead of “he” and “she” while referring to people. Again, the latest one is visually appealing and less time-consuming. It is critical to consult with professors and instructors before using the newest version, and it should not be used unless otherwise mentioned in the paper (Yap, 2019). APA 7.0 opens new areas of research work, and it is moving towards the maturity stage after its release.

American psychology association (APA), is a tool used in writing. This tool has been globally legalized and accepted for conducting psychological publication of works (Eaton, Lenart, Jones & Premji, 2019). APA was founded in the year 1892by Stanley. Writing psychology is one of the American fundamental tools that facilitate homogenous research as it is being used by linguists, scientists and all other departments for psychological presentation (Eaton et al., 2019). APA has been undergoing various editing progresses where the 6th edition is currently dominating. However, new edition 7th has been released.
Firstly, the location of the publisher is no longer in use (Eaton et al., 2019). Nowadays, writing only involves includes the surname (where editors may be included), initials of the first name, year of publication, title (and sometimes subtitle), and the publisher. Secondly, according to Eaton et al. (2019), only the authors’ names are included, followed by et al. the previous edition mentioned all the authors if they were more than three, then use the first name for the subsequent citation followed by et al.
Thirdly, the reverence list should contain up to 20 authors (including their surnames and initials). Previously, only 6 authors were included in the references list (Eaton et al., 2019). The fourth notable change with the APA is the formatting of the DOIs as the URLs, unlike for the necessity of “DOI:” Fifthly, it is no longer necessary to write the word running head in all pages; only the title is needed.
