Britney Woods,

Chief Architect,

345 Valley Arcade Road,

Westside View, AL,4578.

Dear Ms. Woods:

In respect to the current issue of sustainability and energy conservation in the built environment, I am pleased to inform you of a project that could be implemented to help the people of Atlanta and Georgia as a whole in understanding the true value of sustainability and its benefits. Sustainability has been identified as one of the ways of making the environment we live in more livable space. It is a matter that has gained worldwide recognition, and there is a need to design buildings that preserve the natural environment instead of exploiting it.

I recently conducted an interview with a sustainability consultant from Hassarch studios which gave me a lot of insight on this matter, and after much consideration and research, I was able to come up with the project idea of putting up an Eco-Resort in Atlanta which will act as a benchmark for sustainable design in the region. The main objective of the interview was to identify how contemporary buildings can incorporate sustainable strategies in their design and construction. Architect Hassan defined sustainability as using available resources to meet the current needs without compromising the availability of those resources for future generations. Sustainability, therefore, involves environmental protection, economic growth, and social progress.

The Proposed Eco-Resort will make use of sustainable design strategies that limit the negative environmental impact. These strategies include passive design strategies such as natural daylighting, thermal massing, natural ventilation, etc. The other strategy is to use renewable energy systems in the building to reduce energy consumption. Renewable energy systems include solar harnessing and wind harnessing. These are usually applied together with passive design strategies. Locally available materials, recycled materials, and local labor will also be utilized.

Blending the facility with the surrounding landscape, environment, and neighborhood will be considered to achieve a belonging project. Environmental sustainability will also be achieved through a timely decision that will incorporate conservation measures. The center is to be bio-climatically friendly. Intelligent and efficient mechanical and electrical systems will also be installed to enhance energy efficiency. The facility will be economically sustainable in that the revenue collected as a result of the facility operations will be used in the running of the project. The revenue gathered from the visitors and scholars visiting will be used to run the entire facility. The main source of income for the resort is the entrance fee, accommodations, restaurant services, meetings, entertainment, picnics, campings, recreational activities, shops and banking services.

The eco-resort will adapt and improve on old ideas with great effect, rather than simply copying ancient techniques. It will also bridge important gaps between Modern market demands and beautiful forms from the past. The use of indigenous construction tools and methods will render the eco-resort to be more authentic within its cultural contexts, fitting into the fabric of local community life.

I hope that this proposal will be considered and I am willing to provide more information upon request.

Sincerely,

Gohar Alam.
