Discussion and Response: backup procedures
It is a fact that the most vital for every organization is information security backups. However, this sector is also known as the scarier one in all the aspects of the company. In terms of business, the word' backup' can be defined as an extra copy of important information and data that the company stores in private to prevent all types of disasters like permanent data loss (Khan et al, 2017). There are many cases in this era where precious information has gone lost without any evidence. Companies like Target and Yahoo have lost millions and millions of information just because of data breaches. Such a thing happens because of the poor backup security system that presents in companies. In general, there are no strict and strong monitoring systems in order to avoid such types of breaches.
In general, the information in the large companies is stored in two ways in private- they are offline and online. Typically, people call online backups as cloud backups. Such backups are done over the network and by the third-party providers of cloud backups (Putu Agus et al, 2016). On the other hand, some hardware devices like DVDs and tapes are the ones that store offline backups. These types of backups are generally easy to handle in all the conditions. However, if they get old or handled improperly, they may, at the same time, lose their functionality too. People generally avoid backing up the information offline. However, the offline backups are not the worst; it is just that they have multiple consistency issues and problems. In order to back up the information of a certain company, they are many tools available at present in the market. However, we should also consider that backing up and restoring certain information of a company is very expensive.
