What items did you find to be compelling and enlightening? Explain your response in detail.
A strategy is defined by (Singh & Useem, 2016) creating the companies’ directions and determining what brings them value and advantage that is continuous. They also believe that it also requires giving time and thought to a set of five questions that begins with a vision. The vision is a direction or aspirations to create a statement of purpose. It also involves competitive positioning in knowing where it stands in the market and what possible threats could be posed against the company. (Singh & Useem, 2016) states the third question has to do with what unique trait creates value for the company or what could destroy value for them. They also look at managerial decisions that could impact them positively or negatively with advantages or disadvantages. Lastly, once the prior questions are answered, does the company need to go in a different direction?
Strategic leadership is all about providing a competitive advantage for the company and what pushes it out above the others. According to (Singh & Useem, 2016), it helps the leader align the right people to create value, optimize it, and restructure it if need be. It helps the leader encourage the team to think outside the box at what they want to achieve, what choices they have, and getting your resources in order to ask the right questions. It is about “setting a clear vision and making choices of where to play and how to win, prioritizing goals, and ensuring you have the capabilities necessary to achieve those goals” (Singh & Useem, 2016, Chapter 2).
(Amayreh, 2020) defines strategic leadership as the ability to comprehend the important pieces of creative strategic thinking, to comprehend the ways of the creative planning course and its applications while also being able to write it all down in an understandable course of action. They describe it as ongoing and you most likely will find these leaders at the top of large corporations where the basis of their work is to create the company’s structure, find investors and sources of funding, and create resources.
