Structure: Audi AG is a German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury vehicles. Audi is a member of the Volkswagen Group and has its roots at Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. Audi-branded vehicles are produced in nine production facilities worldwide.

Supply Chain Management: By the time a raw material has been transformed into a component installed in an Audi, it will have passed through some 15,000 stations in the course of its production, treatment, finishing and transportation. Together with its many thousands of suppliers, Audi does its best to make this long and complex process chain as environmentally compatible as possible.

Define: air bag recall - Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VW) is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 Audi A4, A5, and Q5 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the air bag control units may corrode and fail. If the air bag control unit fails, the air bags may not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.

measure: The Audi recall covers 170,000 vehicles from model years 2006 through 2013. The Audis involved are: 2006–2013 A3, 2006–2009 A4 cabriolet, 2009–2012 Q5, and 2010–2011 A5 cabriolet.

Analyze: At the heart of the problem is the airbag’s inflator, a metal cartridge loaded with propellant wafers, which in some cases has ignited with explosive force. If the inflator housing ruptures in a crash, metal shards from the airbag can be sprayed throughout the passenger cabin—a potentially disastrous outcome from a supposedly life-saving device.

Improve: "Volkswagen Group of America issued a voluntary recall in February 2016," a spokeswoman for the carmaker said in an email. "We are following the guidelines, as established by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, to replace affected Takata airbags equipped with SDI or PSDI-5 inflators.

Control: Active safety features are responsible for avoiding accidents in the first place, so they generally work to keep the vehicle firmly under your control - they are always "active." Some of the active safety features you'll find in Audi vehicles include:

· Vehicle Stability Assist/Traction Control

· Anti-Lock Braking System

· Electronic Brake Distribution

· Brake Assist

· Tire Pressure Monitoring System

Passive safety features are so named because they remain passive until needed, such as the adaptive restraint system. If an accident does occur, they work to prevent or lessen harm to the driver and passengers.
