The 5 C’s
PART 1: Outline the information you already have about the 5 C’s below. What is the background of your specific audience? Make note of information that you will need to research.
1. Customer ( your assigned audience): Faculty / Staff of Clemson University (Eve)
For our assigned audience which is the faculty and staff of Clemson University, we need to:
· Know their attitudes and beliefs toward giving and donating
· Learn about their financials and how much they make as a clemson faculty member
· Learn their purpose behind why they donate
· Where do they live?
· What specific department do they work in?
· Do they have any other outside hobbies?
· What is important to them?
· What pushes them to make purchasing decisions?
· Why do they/don’t they have objections to donating?
· Who do they already donate to now?
2. Company ( Clemson Community Care):
· mission/who they serve
· Background history
· We need to know how much money they get every year
· How many faculty and staff they get
· annual report
· Services
3. Competition ( Why won’t or can’t your audience give to CCC? What is preventing them from giving money? Think tangible and intangible reasons.):
Potential reasons for why faculty and staff do not donate:
· Not aware of organization
· Already donating to university-run or university-sponsored nonprofits
· May view it as the community’s responsibility and not consider themselves apart of the city of Clemson’s community (especially if they do not live here and just travel here for work)
· Not enough income to donate
4. Collaborators ( What are other similar nonprofits doing? Are there internal partners? Whom could you partner with or learn from?):
· Internal partners include:
· 31 supporting churches in the area
· Clemson University
· Clemson free clinic
· Schools like Montessori, Daniel, Pendleton and Pickens
· Clemson University could offer faculty and staff some sort of benefit to start spreading knowledge about CCC while maybe including projects like these to bring awareness
· Throw a big cookout with a bunch of the supporting churches, inviting all the members to come eat and donate/volunteer in upcoming food or clothing drives
· CCC and the Clemson free clinic set out to help a lot of the same people while providing very different services, so I believe it would be a great idea for them to collaborate on some sort of event to raise awareness/fundraising.
· Try partnering with the athletics department at Clemson to include information about the program on the big screen at sporting events
5. Context ( What is the background of the cause CCC supports? What are the concerns or opportunities for your client surrounding this initiative? Why is a campaign important right now? ):
· CCC supports getting people back on their feet, starting through churches, but growing more and more each year through internal partners and new services. They make the government SNAP program a more individualized program for the people in Central, Pendleton, and Clemson communities.
· A new opportunity is because COVID is becoming less of an issue, if CCC does not take a leap of marketing after COVID, there will not be much room for them against competition nearby.
· Some concerns for CCC might be loss of audience from neighboring competition, but making faculty/staff a large donor field would definitely put them ahead.
· A campaign is extremely important right now because of the growing community. With new construction all around Clemson’s campus and the movement from social distancing, there are many new opportunities to get faculty and staff more involved with the nonprofit.
· seasons/sports seasons/academic year/student and faculty schedule
What information is still needed for you to complete this worksheet? How will you get this information?
· How much are faculty and staff donating each year?
· How many faculty/staff volunteers are there volunteering on a regular basis?
