Roles and Responsibilities
Michael explained that construction engineering is a very important and sensitive job in our life because it can prevent a lot of damage and injury when buildings are constructed correctly. “Civil engineers usually work in areas where there is lots of manufacturing and businesses. Often they work at construction sites. Sometimes they work in places that are far away from cities. Most engineers work at least 40 hours per week. Some are required to travel.” (bls.gov). Michael gave me additional information about his job during the day. First he meets with the architects to discuss the designs on paper, and then he meets with construction engineers to discuss the measurements of the designs. Then after they have finished working on papers, some of the constructions engineers have to work on groups in the project in the real field to explain the measurements to the workers and help the workers understand everything in the design so that mistakes can be prevented when the workers do the actual building. “It is expected that civil engineer jobs will increase much faster than the average for all occupations through 2018. More civil engineers will be needed to design and build things as the population grows. For example, they will need to fix and replace buildings and roads as they continue to become old, unsafe, and worn out.” (bls.gov)

He said that he chose an accounting major because it fit with his personality, and because a demand for accounting jobs in a complex and competitive environment was increasing rapidly. This statement is supported in the research from the United States Department of Labor; it signified that jobs involved in accounting have high demand in America, and the rate of unemployment was very low:
Recent research from the U.S. Department of Labor in the fourth quarter 2014 bolsters his confidence. The most recent statistics indicate that staff and senior accountants, financial analysts, business systems analysts, controllers and internal auditors are some of the most in-demand roles across the country and have unemployment rates well below the national average (2014).
The increasing demand for accountants made it a good choice for Mr. Tom, and he studied hard and graduated with his accounting degree. He was able to find a job quickly …
