Personal Leadership Plan 4
Personal Vision Statement:
Within the next five years, I plan to be a director of a Radiology program at a hospital facility or at an outpatient office facility. Another option is an educator either in the field of Radiography or sciences, which is another goal of mine. As a leader at this facility, I will strive to set clear expectations and motivate the group in a positive way, while providing constructive feedback. As a leader, I will be fair and lead with integrity.
Personal Mission Statement:
To achieve the goal of becoming a Radiology director either at a hospital facility or at an office, I must complete my Bachelors degree in May of 2021 as planned by maintaining a high grade point average. If I decide to continue my education into graduate school, I will be headed in the direction of either an administrative role or into education either at the secondary level or in a Radiography program.
Factors for Success:
To achieve my goal of becoming a Radiology director at a hospital or in an office setting, I must complete my Bachelors degree in May of 2021. I will also need this degree to be able to be an educator. I am currently the clinical instructor at my facility for students through the college that we facilitate. I will need to continue to perfect and polish my instructing skills through the next few years through the students that are assigned to my facility. Meeting diverse students also allows me to understand that not everyone learns the same way. I have occasionally been challenged to resort to new ideas to be able to reach certain students, which has been eye opening to me. I am a lifelong learner, so this has helped me in my leadership understand others. I am also the lead X-ray technologist at my facility. By continuing to learn about charges and other workings that my manager has assigned me, it allows me to know more of the process and duties that a manager role takes on. If I continue my education through obtaining a Masters degree, I will be headed in the direction of administration or teaching. My support system of my husband, my parents, and my children will continue to encourage me to succeed. I will continue to do most of my school assignments when my children go to bed.
Measurable Goals:
Goal 1: I will graduate with my Bachelors degree by May 2021. I am very good with time management and a very organized person. I am currently a full time employee, full time student, and full time mother. I plan to take another full load of school for next semester in order to achieve this goal. Though it is tedious, I want to achieve this as quickly as I possibly can.
Goal 2: I plan to become a director of Radiology in the next five years. I plan to do this through active teamwork and collaboration during my time as a leader. I have learned that different perspectives lead to better diverse answers, and quite possibly something that I have not thought of myself. I will also set clear expectations in order to strive my team to achieve these goals. I will also make sure that each voice is heard. I will also do self reflection frequently because I know that those in higher positions do not always have constructive criticism and feedback directed at them as much. This reflection is necessary in order to grow myself and also will impact the group’s development.
Action Steps:
To achieve my goal of becoming director of a Radiology department or within an office, I will need to graduate with my Bachelors degree in May 2021. I will need to continue to strive to put forth quality assignments throughout the duration of my school. I will also need to apply to these different positions as they become available and check frequently. I can also ask those that are in the profession that I am acquainted with if there are any openings.
To achieve my goal of obtaining my Masters degree, I will need to apply to graduate school either for the fall of 2021 or the next year. I need to be researching now for the best three options for myself and which apply best to achieve my goals. I need to continue to polish my instructing abilities and continue to learn how diverse students learn and how I can best accommodate them in their school careers. This is my ultimate goal, maybe not in the next five years, but it is my dream; therefore, I am extremely invested in achieving this.
Desired Results:
I will know that I am working towards my vision by completing my Bachelors degree. The completion of this will motivate me to continue my education within the next year or the year after. I will let the administration at my facility be aware that I have completed this and also those that I know could help me achieve the goal of being a director or instructor at a school. I will also know that I am working towards being an effective leader by the feedback given by the team I am with. Being able to express ideas that a member has is a key indicator that I am doing my part in making the environment safe for different ideas to be heard.
