3 Things You Have learned Essay:
The Three Greatest Lessons I Learned in COM 2206
Write a paper, 2-3 pages in length, in which you clearly explain the three greatest lessons you learned in COM 2206 which you think were the most significant to you.
Consider the following Suggestions :
· Focus on three of the topics we have discussed, written about, or addressed in class. Pick the three themes which struck a chord with you, the three concepts which challenged you, the three ideas which you pondered later, or the three issues which you discussed at length with friends or family.
· One or more of these ideas may have been a lesson you learned by reading another student’s posting. They do not have to be part of the “official curriculum,” just a lesson you learned because you were in COM 2206.
· What have you learned about yourself after having taken COM 2206? Do you think about yourself differently? If so, in what ways? Did you experience a light bulb or ah-ha moment? What was involved in that moment? Did your way of thinking change on a particular topic? You may also explain how the reading of the textbook enhanced your understanding of a real life situation.
· Describe each lesson in depth and then analyze how this topic or idea affects you now and/or how you look at the situation differently. For example, if the reading regarding stereotypes really made you re-think how you speak to your co-worker, then tell how you treated him/her previously and what changes in your behavior, thinking, or verbal comments you have noticed recently.
Consider the Requirements :
· Explain each lesson. Explain clearly what you learned and how you learned it.
· Link the lesson to the class material. Describe how this lesson was related to an assignment, reading, posting or case study. You are not required to tie the lesson to the text, but you must clearly ground the lesson in COM 2206.
· Analyze the significance of the lesson for you. Break down into specific elements why you found the lesson significant. Discuss why the lesson was important to you.
You will be graded on how well you communicate the subject, the three greatest lessons you learned. You will be graded on your clarity of your logic, the specificity of your explanation, and thoroughness of your analysis. Be sure to proofread your work by checking your spelling, grammar and punctuation. The paper should be typed, double-spaced, use 12 point legible font, and have 1” margins.
The essay should have an introduction that includes a thesis statement and a conclusion that reviews the main ideas of the paper. This format will assist you in linking these three ideas together. In other words, use the introduction to set the context of the paper and use the conclusion to summarize the themes effectively.
