I remember the excitement of Windows 95, then Windows 98 was like Christmas. Windows ME (Millennium) was released and the anticipation was overwhelming. That was until I installed it and used it. On a personal account, I remember it seemed to a rushed and premature product and release. The operating system did bring with it multiple new features which are commonplace today.
Universal Plug n Play
Automatic Updates
Windows Image Acquisition
USB Mass Storage (Zheng, 2008)
While these features were a great addition to the computer world it still was not enough to save the reputation of ME. It was still far too unstable and unsecure (Vaughan-Nichols, 2009). ME did tarnish the reputation of Microsoft and the Windows line. Microsoft and Windows were obviously able to recover from the flawed program, but I could image it was not an easy task and some people had plenty of explaining to do.
