Affordable Care Act resulted in more gains in the health insurance coverage through the extension of Medicaid coverage to low-income persons and provision of marketplace subsidies for people below400% of poverty. The number of uninsured people in the United States decreased from 44 million in the year 2013 to 28 million in 2016. The coverage was majorly extended to all adults with incomes and below 138% poverty levels.

Additionally projected changes are now happening in emergency health care rooms.47% of a health care emergency rooms are reporting increased number since the emergence of ACA. The increase in numbers has created challenges such as inadequate staff especially in the emergency departments, increased demand for ACA is expected to worsen the situation as it is estimated that9.3% of the population remain uninsured (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2017)

In the future the supply and demand ratio for medical practitioners is estimated at 46100;90400. Shortages are also expected in the non-primary created, and great care is being taken to ensure that the challenges are timely met to ensure care is provided for all patients. A way of addressing the issue of these shortages is by increasing the number of nurse practitioners. CA also allows an approximate of five hospitals to receive50 million dollars annually, to make training of nurses through Medicaid and Medicare services. Though ACA has led to supply and demand challenges it has created a wide range of opportunities for nurses to grow towards better-paying positions. The act provides nurses to gain a further education that is employed to strengthen the preventive care and results in increased patient satisfaction. The Act has enabled most Americans to obtain the attention that they deserve. Nurse practitioners can provide quality care through a range of advantages offered by the Act (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2017)
