Everybody in one way or another strives to make an impact on the world. However, the majority of the people live in the thoughts that, for one to make a mark, you have to be someone from a higher caliber. For instance, being either a public figure or in power. One doesn't need to be in power to exhibit an impact on the world. Activities such as taking care of the environment do make a great impact.

During the final year of studying in high school, I had an aspiration to become the school president. The zeal towards this move was brought about because I strongly believed that, it was by being in power that I was going to make a significant mark on the school and in the universe as well. Since we were a lot of aspirants, I had to devise a move that was going to make me secure the post of school president

The campaign started and I worked tirelessly explaining to the people about my manifesto and with the aid of my campaign partners helping me distribute the campaign posters. It was indeed a difficult time for me having to deal with classwork and campaign issues bearing in mind that I was in my final year and the final exams are around the corner. This did not stop me and I vowed to fight like a wounded lion to secure the school president post. Luckily, I succeeded in the first round. The presidential aspirants were shortlisted to a number of three. I became the runners-up. This made me wonder if I was going to make it as the winner, but I did not despair.

The voting day that I was eagerly waiting for was finally here. I was indeed restless since I kept fidgeting. I decided to convince myself that whatever was going to happen if it was to be a win or a loss, I was going to be okay with it and it was then that I settled. The votes were cast and luckily, I emerged the winner with a landslide victory. I was very happy that I was to be the new President and my name was going to go down into the school history book. I thanked all the students for supporting me and my campaign partners. In my speech, I noted that I was going to deliver all that I wrote in my manifesto.

It was now time to deliver my promises. At a point, I sat down and thought about how I was interested in making a great impact on the world hence opted to be a school president. It dawned on me that it is not necessary to be in power to make a change in the world. The things that people think are minor are the ones that make a significant impact in the world. Activities such as; caring for the environment, mentoring young kids, volunteering in community cleaning, and helping the less fortunate in society goes a long way in making a mark on the world. Therefore, making a mark on the world starts at the grass-root level and for one to make a mark, it does not necessitate that they should be people of a higher caliber.
