Running head: EQUIPMENT AND PRODUCT SAFETY

EQUIPMENT AND PRODUCT SAFETY

Equipment and Product Safety

A safe product is one that does not present any unnecessary risk to anybody when the product is used in a typical or sensibly predictable way. The General Product Safety Regulations 2005 (GPSR) give the primary premise to guaranteeing the security of purchaser merchandise by forcing specific controls. This guarantees that all products planned for or prone to be utilized by customers under typical or sensibly predictable conditions are protected. The article I have picked is about "safe patient handling (SPH) to reduce injuries and improve patient care." The motivation behind this task was to investigate factors that keep medical caretakers from using automated lift equipment in the treatment of patients (de Castro, 2016). SPH projects give an element to protect medical attendants and patients. In acute care facility, back injuries are increasing as well as among healthcare providers across the nation. The PICO (T) questions dependent on this undertaking are:

P population is nurses

I intervention is the use of transfer equipment or mechanical lift,

C comparison consist of nurses who use manual support without equipment

O outcome is reduced patient/nurse injury and upgraded nurse care

T time required is 4 months

Through the literature review section, I have discovered that patient health issues and related injuries to healthcare workers are dependent on the type of SPH program implemented in a healthcare facility. As per de Castro (2016) safe patient taking care of programs are created and actualized because of "high rates of injury associated with manual patient handling." Nurses benefits from these programs by understanding the weight limit they can physically lift. Also, nurses are able to know the type of devices and equipment required to perform a particular task. Programs utilize a blend of approaches and methods, persistent appraisals, prompt references to determine equipment choice (de Castro, 2016).
