Review Writing Assignment

Set of Criteria that would make the website acceptable by the public on matters to do with Diseases and Disorders

The website that I reviewed is on the AARP magazine, which is about ADHD. The set of criteria is as follows:

1. Testimony for the Site

A website has to have people who have testified regarding its effectiveness in providing the necessary information (Seckler et al., 2015). Thus, other people will trust it to get the required information regarding disorders and diseases. An example of a disorder is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD. The disorder makes people have reduced attention, and thus, they cannot concentrate on things for long. The general public looks at what people have said regarding the website at the Google reviews. Positive feedback makes the website attract more people who visit for information. (Seckler et al., 2015) Negative feedback prevents people from seeking information there. Another important thing is that the public looks at the date on which the review was done. A review that was done recently is the best to use for evaluation. This is what many people do for this website.

2. Availability of contact information

The public would want to access the website's contact information so that they can talk to the management if necessary. There is some information that might require clarification. It is because there are instances where a person cannot continue to use information that contradicts what is universally known in science (Seckler et al., 2015). Therefore, they have to contact the author to get assured that there is a change in what is known or not. Only those who value the credibility of the information take their time to get the confirmation of findings. For example, when there are new findings regarding ADHD.

3. The Website Link is Safe

The public and other readers and scholars have to establish that the URL of the website is safe. It is an indication that the website is well managed, and makes people trust the information more. People do not like using information from websites whose trustworthiness is questionable. Credible information is good since it gives people the confidence to present findings and content obtained from the website (Seckler et al., 2015). The safety of a website link is also an indicator that the information of the users is safe. Safeguarding the privacy of the users' information is essential since it helps instill confidence in them.

4. The Appearance of the Website is good.

A website that does not look good makes people feel insecure about it. If the owner or the management cannot invest in appearance, it is hard to believe that they will invest in the safety and authenticity of the information (Seckler et al., 2015). Websites that are not good-looking are likely to experience malware and pose a threat to the users. The website should also look good in terms of grammar. A website that has a lot of grammatical errors cannot be trusted.

5. The website should have a Trust Seal.

The users look at the availability of a trust seal. Trust seals are usually badges or symbols put at the top of the purchase pages, showing that there is high information safety (Seckler et al., 2015). Therefore, any user can feel comfortable even sharing sensitive information. No one would like to share information, and then it gets known by everybody.

6. The Private Policy is Accessible

Privacy is an important issue, so the privacy policy should be such that all people can access it (Seckler et al., 2015). Most users know that the privacy policy is found at the bottom of every page, and they look for it first. A privacy policy is a legal requirement, and if a website does not have it, the owner can even be sued.

7. Updating the Website

The website needs to get updated on the latest information regarding various disorders and diseases (Seckler et al., 2015). It will show that those managing the website are committed to getting new and more reliable information. Users will find the website more educating and trustworthy.

8. Being active Online

The website should have other social media accounts where they post information (Seckler et al., 2015). Users will be able to determine how active they are by looking at the frequency of posts.

Description of the Website I have chosen and whether it performs the criteria established above or not

The website I have chosen is AARP, the magazine. It is a magazine that has information on various issues. It makes people informed so that they can make better decisions. The magazine has all the criteria that are outlined above. It has updated information, and thus, users get current information (Jenkims & Georges, 2019). This information is based on recent research and can help those live better lives by making better decisions. The website is well designed, and that shows that the management has invested in it. It is because they know the importance of having a good appearance. It attracts users since they feel that these people know what they are doing.

Many customers have done reviews and left positive feedback. That has helped in boosting confidence in other users. People like using websites that have a good reputation. Users can only give positive feedback if they feel that the information they received was of high quality. There is also the availability of contact information on the website (Jenkims & Georges, 2019). Therefore, those who wish to contact the management can do so at will. Having contacts at the website also instills confidence in the users; they feel that there are no untrustworthy affairs happening.
