For this week the focus of your discussion will be a little broader and be based on the emerging use of nanotechnology in general (not just for agriculture). For this discussion, please read the following paper by Guilger et al

and use the following questions to start your discussion on nanotechnology:

1. What are nanoparticles and what was the main purpose of using nanoparticles in this study?

2. There are various types of nano-materials, discuss what are some of the different types of nano-materials that have been used or are being developed. How do these nano-materials differ from each other? What are some properties of specific types of nano-materials that make them useful for applications in the biological sciences?

3. Discuss some of the recent biological applications of nanotechnology and compare and contrast those uses to the applications described in the paper for this week.
