Understanding​ ​the​ ​Evaluation​ ​Process​ ​for​ ​SPED

After​ ​being​ ​referred,​ ​it​ ​may​ ​take​ ​up​ ​to​ ​60​ ​days​ ​to​ ​complete​ ​the​ ​evaluation​ ​process.​ ​By

December​ ​2​ ​the​ ​process​ ​will​ ​be​ ​complete,​ ​and​ ​they​ ​will​ ​know​ ​what​ ​services​ ​Alfredo​ ​requires.

After​ ​which,​ ​the​ ​IEP​ ​is​ ​processed​ ​within​ ​a​ ​30​ ​day​ ​period​ ​meaning​ ​that​ ​Alfredo​ ​may​ ​be​ ​able​ ​to

start​ ​by​ ​January​ ​1​ ​or​ ​at​ ​latest​ ​January​ ​11.​ ​Although​ ​the​ ​duration​ ​of​ ​the​ ​evaluation​ ​is​ ​rather

lengthy,​ ​it​ ​is​ ​necessary​ ​to​ ​discover​ ​and​ ​provide​ ​the​ ​specific​ ​education​ ​Alfredo​ ​needs.​ ​However,

a​ ​quicker​ ​evaluation​ ​term​ ​would​ ​give​ ​Alfredo​ ​more​ ​time​ ​to​ ​adapt​ ​and​ ​assimilate​ ​to​ ​his​ ​new

education​ ​style.​ ​If​ ​he​ ​does​ ​have​ ​difficulty,​ ​RTI​ ​(Response​ ​to​ ​Intervention)​ ​will​ ​help​ ​him​ ​a​ ​great

deal.​ ​Through​ ​their​ ​special​ ​education​ ​personnel,​ ​​ ​they​ ​ensure​ ​that​ ​he’s​ ​grades​ ​do​ ​not​ ​go​ ​down,

and​ ​he​ ​learns​ ​what​ ​he​ ​needs​ ​to.
