Unit 5 Week 2 (2nd Response)
I agree Marsha. With easy access to the internet many health care platforms have been generated, such as Web MD. However, I am a little skeptical about these kinds of platforms. Some individuals use these platforms to find information or symptoms that they carry back to their doctors. Giving a doctor a list of symptoms that one imagines one has because their symptoms fit a horrible disease that they believe they have can lead to useless and unwarrented tests being performed that don't need to be done. Of course, the doctor can often figure out that this what their patients are doing and can discuss with them how they shouldn't rush to a health care platform based website to diagnose oneself. But there are doctors who are just looking to make money from tests and repeated appointments with this kind of patient and will often take advantage of the situation. |
