Structure of the Hospitality Industry

Welcome to the hospitality industry. After reading Chapters 1 and 2 in the course text, you should now have a good understanding of the overall scope of the industry and what it means to be a manager within a hospitality organization.

1. Identify a segment of the hospitality industry that interests you.

2. Discuss the reasons this segment interests you.

3. Distinguish the difference between the front of the house and the back of the house in the hospitality industry segment you have chosen.

4. What is the role of a manager in the segment of the hospitality industry that you have chosen? Discuss global factors of importance that a manager must be prepared to deal with.
