Find a two-dimensional steel structure somewhere in Boston and model it in MASTAN2 – a brief tutorial on MASTAN2 will be given in class. Submit a picture of your structure and provide key structural characteristics (e.g. location, size, estimated construction date, primary functions, whether you will model the structure as a truss or a frame). Estimate the loads on the structure at the instant you took the picture and model the loads in MASTAN2. First sketch the deflected shape by hand, then provide a screenshot showing the deflected shape of the structure and indicate the location and magnitude of the maximum deflection.
