Scope and limit of power

One of the more pressing concerns shared by Founding Fathers of the Republic and the Framers of the Constitution was fear of tyranny, either from a single individual, such as a monarch, or from a group. In this week’s readings, you are presented with the Federalist/Anti-Federalist debate concerning the scope and limits of government power and its implications for contemporary America as well as abroad.

For this Discussion, read Federalist Papers No. 67, 78–83 and Anti-Federalists, Cato No. 5, and Brutus No. 11, along with the other required readings for Week 1.

Post by Day 3 your support for the argument of the Federalists or the counter argument of the Anti-Federalists, with respect to the scope and limits of power. Include in your argument the implications of the scope and limits of power for contemporary America and abroad. Using examples from the readings and additional sources from the Walden Library, support your opinions empirically.
