This qualitative methodology gives management information on the patient's point of view and insight into how well their services are working. They can also yield actionable data for determining the direction of improvement of an institution.

Make a list of some of the standardized questions that are asked in a patient satisfaction survey.

Discuss how these questions get at the patient’s point of view and satisfaction with the services provided. Discuss some of the ways in which the data that are collected might be skewed or not reliable. Discuss how much emphasis an organization should place on patient satisfaction surveys in making decisions and changes, and suggest at least 2 other sources that should be considered in the decision-making process with rationale.
