R4
Please answer the following questions very deeply and presicely :
Hume
According to Hume in his work 'Of the Standard of Taste’, “Beauty is no quality in things themselves: It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them; and each mind perceives a different beauty. One person may even perceive deformity, where another is sensible of beauty; and every individual ought to acquiesce in his own sentiment, without pretending to regulate those of others” (pg. 56). How does the concept of beauty differ from person to person in the eyes of Hume? Does he consider beauty to determined by a standard, or through cultural upbringing or is it a quality that is inherent? What are your thoughts on beauty and how one conceptualizes it?
Kant
