QUESTION501
Answer this question in 500 words.
A major ethical issue in psychology is the ethics of research with animals; in Chapter 2, the APA guidelines for research with animals are presented. In psychology such research can extend from studying factors affecting how rats run a maze to research that requires killing the animal, such as exposing animals to certain chemicals thought to be associated with dementia and autopsying the animals’ brains to observe the effects. Do you think that some, most, or all research on animals is ethical? What restrictions would you place on such research, if any? How might your own regulations differ from those of the APA, if you were in a position to write the APA ethics regulations regarding animal research? Explain your reasoning for these positions.
