Refer to Wetterlin's book Tonal Accents in Norwegian re: the two way contrastive tonal system in standard Norwegian (both Bokmal and Nynorsk). {Some dialects have developed a third tone stemming from the loss of a syllable at the end of a word.} Provide a summary of the twp-way contrast nothing minimal tonal pairs. Next, compare the Norwegian tonal system with the swedish. (i.e. nothing both similarities and differences). Which lexical words are receiving toneme1? Toneme 2? How does morpholgy play a role re: tonal selection in Norwegian? Swedish? How are new and borrowed words related re: tone?
