First pick a business in the public or private sector; health, education, transportation, finance, manufacturing or any other significant public or private sector.  

Start by describing the chosen business and details.  Provide a high-level organizational chart and a detailed management chart of you’re the Information Technology Department.  Next you should develop a high level network diagram that shows your servers and desktop devices.   

The overall size of your business (number of employees) The number of workstations / computers The type(s) of devices.  Operations systems of the devices. The servers and application portfolio (what applications are used in your business).  

Deliverable:  PowerPoint Slide presentation showing the following information.   

Slides should cover the following (combining items on a slide is permitted).  Where it says “describe” a diagram is encouraged to describe the concept. 

1. One slide should be an overview of your business (re-use something from another class is permitted).    

Service Strategy:  Develop slide(s) showing: 2. What the business needs from Information Technology. 3. Strategies needed to satisfy the business. 4. Describe your vision of how the business will fund technology (Financial Management) 5. Describe any charge-back to departments for your IT services. 6. Describe your company strategy for managing demand for IT services. Service Design: 7. Describe your service catalog (a table of high-level key offerings from IT). a. Identify Strategic, Tactical, or Operational b. Your service catalog can be a “mock-up” of a Web Page (see Session 5 samples). 8. Identify at least 1 SLA per team member and give a high level description (graphic) of the details.  

Grading criteria  

70 points  Evidence the team incorporated ITIL processes in the presentation. Diagrams that describe each point as detailed above.  

 

20 points Slide presentation graphics and clarity.  Should be “board room” quality. 

10 points References and proper citations of material used.
