According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the estimated national cost of replacing outgoing teachers is $2.2 billion (Alliance for Excellent Education, 2005), money that could be better spent on the program or staff development. Identify and describe a policy related to teacher retention. Then, evaluate the significance of the retention policy in relationship to the desired program outcomes.
