Often, the IMF loans money to a country undergoing a financial crisis. The loans come attached with a set of conditions. For this assignment, do the following:

1) Select one of the following financial crises to examine: (a) the Mexican Currency Crisis, 1995, (b) the Asian Financial Crisis, 1997, (c) the global financial crisis, 2007 onwards, (d) the sovereign debt crisis of Greece, 2009 onwards. 

2) Read up on the crisis you selected and figure out what role the IMF played. Make sure to get more than one perspective on what happened. While some claim that the IMF helped resolve the issues, others contend that it made things worse (and was possibly responsible for the crisis in the first place). 

3) In your own words, summarize the crisis and the IMF’s role in it. Offer your assessment of the IMF’s actions. Your response should be around 800 words long. Please include a word count and references.
