This week's discussion will focus on the problem statement which lays the foundation for establishing the purpose of the research. Once that has been accomplished, the research is more narrowly defined because the particular variables of interest are identified and their suggested relationship is stated.
Discuss the following:
- Explain why it is necessary to have a clearly stated hypothesis before beginning to collect data.
- Explain why it is or why it is not necessary for all research projects to be directed by a hypothesis.
