Budget Cuts Analysis

Over the last ten years, schools have had to make significant budget cuts. Teachers feel the brunt of educational budget cuts in many ways. In a profession during economically stable periods, about 20% of teachers leave the profession in the first three years, budget cuts mean less incentive for educators to continue teaching (Spring, 2011). As a result, schools are forced to cut corners and stretch dollars to accommodate student and teacher needs.

1. Go online and find a local school budget. As you review the budget, examine what areas were eliminated or reduced, and what areas the school spent most of its money.
2. Analyze the impact budget cuts have had on education and justify your reasoning. 
3. Describe the types of policies that can be put in place to protect impacted areas and justify your reasoning.
4. Examine what political conflicts are triggered as a result of budget cuts and justify your reasoning.

Your paper should be three to four pages (not including Title and Reference pages) and double-spaced. Make sure you use a minimum of two resources in addition to your text in order to support your position. Your paper must be in APA format.
