Does Grammar Matter?

It seems that the rules of Standard Written English no longer apply in the world of texting and social media.  Do you think this is a problem?  If  communication is the goal, is it important to spell out “you” or to capitalize the pronoun “I”?  u know what i mean, don’t u?
