Instructions
 

                Assume you were a retail store manager in Nashville, TN. You receive shipments of a particular product from Atlanta and New York. Let

x = number of units of the product received from Atlanta

y = number of units of the product received from New York

  1. Write an expression for the total number of units of the product received by the retail store
  2. Shipments from Atlanta cost first letter of your first name *$0.05 per unit, and shipments from New York cost second letter of your first name *$0.05 per unit. Develop an objective function representing the total cost of shipments to Nashville.
  3. Assuming the monthly demand at the retail store is second letter of your last name *1000 units, develop a constraint.
  4. No more than third letter of your first name *1000 units can be shipped from Atlanta, and no more than 3000 units can be shipped from New York. Develop constraints to model this situation.
  5. Of course, negative amounts cannot be shipped. Combine the objective function and constraints developed to state a mathematical model for satisfying the demand at the Nashville retail store at minimum cost.
  6. Using Excel solver, obtain the optimal solution if you can. Explain why if you can’t find an optimal solution.
