The Growth of Industry

In the 1820s, Lowell, Massachusetts went from a farming community to a mill town. The associated changes affected the population, the land use, the economic base, social life, and the workplace.  How did the changes in Lowell, Massachusetts affect people’s lives?  Your assignment is to write a short essay on how the development of commerce and industry in Lowell, Massachusetts affected the land use, gender roles, culture, and socioeconomic class.
