The official death toll exceeded 900 people.  Jonestown, Guyana.  It is the origin of the expression “to drink the Kool-Aid.”   Google “Jonestown” and you will easily find all sorts of information, some of the basics of which you will need to write your assignment.

Your assignment: in approximately 1,000 words, three pages, use the basic properties of groups that you learned from Gustave LeBon and apply them to the Jonestown phenomenon.  In other words, you will explain what happened at Jonestown by using LeBon’s principles on crowds.

You should define your terms, demonstrate that you understand them, and use evidence from news coverage to show how LeBon’s ideas did (or perhaps did not) apply to this ugly situation. Hopefully, when/if the time comes, you will not drink the Kool-Aid.
