The global recession beginning in 2008 created many problems for the European Union. Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and Italy continue to struggle with financial issues, Greece came nearest to collapse and recently Cyprus joined those countries identified as near collapse. Using the Economist, the Wall Street Journal or other resources explain what is at the foundation of difficulties in these countries (1-2 paragraphs); explain how this effects the EU (1-2 paragraphs) and conclude with your opinion on if you think the EU will remain viable or will collapse.
