ESSAY
Write a paper analyzing a written or visual text within your major (Fashion merchandise). For example, advertising majors may choose an advertisement; fashion design majors may choose an editorial, garment, or fashion show; film and animation students may choose a film; audio majors may choose a song; and so forth.
Your goal is to conduct an analysis, which means you will examine the various parts of your text in order to gain a better understanding of it as a whole. Your thesis should be a contestable claim about the meaning of your text that you support in the body of the paper with specific evidence. For a written text, that evidence will primarily be quotation or summary. For a visual text, that evidence will be description. Some texts require a combination of both. But remember, your primary goal is not to summarize or describe a text, but rather to examine its meaning.
You must quote from at least one secondary source in your paper, showing how it informs your argument. That source should be from a book, the library databases, or a highly reliable website. Provide MLA-style in-text citations and a Works Cited page. Give your essay a creative title, and use MLA format throughout. This essay should be 3-4 pages.
