Read the following articles:

Seven reasons to promote standards-based instruction for students with severe disabilities: A reply to Ayres, Lowrey, Douglas, & Sievers (2011). Education and Training in Autism and Developmental Disabilities, 47, 3-13. [Link to: Courtade et al. 2012]
The initial article - "I can identify Saturn but I can’t brush my teeth: What happens when the curricular focus for students with severe disabilities shifts", appeared in 2011. The second, "Seven reasons to promote standards-based instruction for students with severe disabilities: A reply to Ayres, Lowrey, Douglas, & Sievers (2011)", was published in 2012 as a response to the perspectives presented by Ayres, et. al.
As you read each article, make notes of your reaction to the points presented by the authors of each article. Specifically:
How do the perspectives presented relate to your own previous/current experiences?
Do you agree (or disagree) with specific points of the articles?
From the point of determining Social Significance of behaviors targeted for intervention, how do the perspectives presented in these articles relate to your role and responsibility as a behavior analyst?
