• Explain what is meant by the concepts of direct, indirect and joint variation.  Provide a real life example of both direct and indirect variation.  If you can also, please add a real life example of joint variation (It is a little harder to find.)

• Other than those listed in the text, how might the Pythagorean Theorem be used in everyday life?  Provide a problem that can be solved by using the Pythagorean Theorem.  Try to make it a real-life situation.
