OBJECTIVES: This assignment is designed to help you form an argument in a less-stressful environment. Films can be very divisive, and being able to articulate a clear argument about a film’s quality can help build the necessary foundation for later academic argumentation. In this paper, you will choose certain aspects of the film to discuss (more than one aspect is preferred, and we will go over the certain aspects in class morethoroughly).

What I look for when reviewing yourpapers:

Thesis (main point): Does your paper have a clear idea that’s guiding it? Can you sum upthis idea in a sentence ortwo?

Evidence: Have you provided enough convincing evidence for yourpoint?

Engagement: Does this paper engage the reader? Is it exciting enough to compel a reader to continue through to theend?

Title & Introduction: Would the title entice someone to read it? Is the introduction attention- grabbing in a positive, non-hyperbolicway?

Conclusion: Does your conclusion provide closure and stimulate thinking? Or does it simply repeat the main ideas of yourpaper?

Proofreading: Is your paper largely free oferrors?

Format: Is your heading correct? Proper identification? Double-spaced? One inchmargins? Does it meet the minimum page lengthrequirements?
