DB PUBLIC RELATION
At a minimum, each student will be expected to post an original and thoughtful response to the DB question and contribute to the weekly dialogue by responding to at least two other posts from students. The first contribution must be posted before midnight (Central Time) on Wednesday of each week. Two additional responses are required after Wednesday of each week. Students are highly encouraged to engage on the Discussion Board early and often, as that is the primary way the university tracks class attendance and participation.
The purpose of the Discussion Board is to allow students to learn through sharing ideas and experiences as they relate to course content and the DB question. Because it is not possible to engage in two-way dialogue after a conversation has ended, no posts to the DB will be accepted after the end of each unit.
The Backgrounder and Fact Sheet
The press kit is the most well-known tool in the PR kit. Print or electronic press kits are used by the media as a resource when covering an organization.
Main Discussion Post
• Search company Web sites to find a backgrounder that you think can be improved. Provide a direct link to it.
• Rewrite the backgrounder in 2 paragraphs.
• In a separate paragraph, explain what you changed and why.
This post should be 3 paragraphs (300 words). Because you are doing research, be sure to cite and reference the sources in APA format. Please do not use attachments; answers should be pasted or typed directly to the Discussion Board.
Interactive Responses
Complete the following for the first interactive response:
• Select 1 student's backgrounder, and develop a brief fact sheet to accompany it.
Complete the following for the second interactive response:
• Select another student's backgrounder, and compare it to the original. Critique both.
• Each post should be 1 paragraph (75 words) and must be substantive in nature.
If you complete all of your posts at one time, your participation will not be considered interactive.Use of unoriginal text and excessive quotes indicates a lack of comprehension and shows that you may not have mastered the concepts.

A Challenge facing management and Public Relations these days is the ever-evolving world around media and advertising outlets. Traditional marketing tactics such as the television, radio, newspaper, etc. has rapidly changed. The internet has become the new “hip” way of relating to the public and getting noticed. This is a challenge but can also be an opportunity for Public relations depending on how it is utilized (Kruckeberg, 1998).
As a part of Public Relations and knowing the type of world we live in which is very high tech, I would say that Public Relations would have to reinvent itself through skills, knowledge, and people power to stay ahead of the technology-obsessed masses so organizations will without hesitation come to them for innovation and fresh ideas.
