Directions: Read the instructions below and use the following steps to complete the assignment, which should be at least two pages in length.

1.            Step 1: Create a visual timeline showing the historical basis for the option available for juvenile offenders.  Your timeline should include milestones for the following areas of the Juvenile Justice System:

•            Juvenile probation

•            Community-based programs for juveniles

•            Delinquency prevention programs

•            Diversion programs

•            Aftercare programs

2.            Step 2: For each of the five areas, provide at least one representative example in your community.  If your community does not have a program, research the nearest larger community.  Define each type of program.

3.            Step 3: Be concise and organize your information visually.  You can use an outline, textboxes, graphics, and so on.
