Students are expected to prepare a research paper.  This research paper satisfies the following course requirements:

1. Students will critically evaluate research on criminology and summarize the position of an area of criminology in relation to crime or criminal activity.

2. Students will master the understanding of the difference between theories of criminology and the impact that theory has on practice.

Topic:  

Select a crime that has occurred in the United States.  

1. What was the crime? (Murder, bank robbery, kidnapping)  

2. Who was involved?

3. How, when, where did the crime occur?

4. Results of the investigation/Trial?

5. Apply the theories of criminology discussed in the textbook to the crime and criminal(s) involved.  

OR

Select a movie that is focused on crime.  

1. What was the crime? (Murder, bank robbery, kidnapping)

3. How, when, where did the crime occur?

4. Results of the investigation/Trial?
