Guideline for Entrepreneur Report (Revised 2/23/14)

Report Topic:  Choose a small business owner who started their business and report on your findings.  This business owner may be someone historically or currently.   Focus on their business, its growth, and changes currently as well as throughout the years.  The company can be currently a corporation as long as it began as a small business. 

Report/Your Choice: Explain what attracted you to this entrepreneur.*Include their competitive edge.

Report Format:  Report must be in a folder as points will be deducted if it’s not!  You MUST have a cover page.  Use Times Roman for typestyle and size 12.  You are to “double space” within the body of this entrepreneur report.  Use a Bibliography page for quotes.  For example:   Entrepreneurs in the World; L.A. Times, page 5, 6/15/13:  Quotes 1 ,2, and 7 (These quotes would be numbered in the body of your report).  You may change typestyle and size for emphasis on data in the report.  Don’t forget to label all visuals whether graphic or pictorial. 

~First Paragraph:  Explain briefly why you chose the biography;

~Introduction:  Include a brief history of the individual explaining how that individual’s personal history had an influence or direct impact on their starting their business;

~Body of the Report:  This section is the major area of the report.  The bulk of your research for the report is to

  include overall description(s) of the product(s) or service(s).  Competition, types of promotion and packaging,

  that were sold.  Pricing must also be included.  Document any quotes on a bibliography page by numbering

  your quote sequentially. 

~Summary:  Include what you’ve learned and any other info helpful in explaining what impressed and

  expanded you knowledge.  You may also include concluding thoughts and opinions regarding this assignment.

Recommendations:  Highly recommend you use the following or a combination of pictures, graphs, and any other helpful visual info.  You can also create an appendix (data at the end of a report usually labeled appendix) to place this data.

THERE IS NO SET NUMBER OF PAGES. CONCENTRATE ON REPORTING THE INFORMATION AS SUGGESTED IN THIS GUIDELINE AND THE NUMBER OF PAGES WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF!
