Bio help, see Description
Agriculture is by the far the biggest user of water in arid western states such as Colorado, Arizona and California. These states also have growing populations and there are ongoing conflicts between cities and farm regions over water. Cities are purchasing water rights from farmers to ensure water supplies for urban growth. This is often the least expensive way for a city to obtain more water and some farmers are making more money selling water than growing crops. Discuss the possible consequences of this trend. Should this alternative be considered a long term solution? Why or why not?
