Assignment 2: Multiagency Disaster Response

Reports are coming from across the mid-Atlantic region that over the past forty-eight to seventy-two hours, medical centers and hospitals in urban areas are seeing large numbers of patients with flu-like symptoms. Initial diagnosis reveals that these patients are suffering from anthrax poisoning.

Preliminary investigations reveal a common denominator—all the patients either work in or have visited high-rise buildings in the past week. Additionally, one company, ABC Filtration of Anytown, New York, provided these buildings with central air-conditioning disposable filters, although they are believed to be contaminated.

Tasks:

• Using the Argosy University online library resources, reliable news outlets, and the FEMA National Incident Management System website (https://training.fema.gov/nims/) identify the command center structures and prepare a 3–4-page paper that provides an overview of the multiple agencies needed to respond to this event.

• Provide a clear and concise explanation for agency participation during this biological attack instead of simply listing the participants.
