Krzysztof Wodiczko is Professor in Residence of Art, Design, and the Public Domain at the GSD. He is renowned for his large-scale slide and video projections on architectural facades and monuments. He has realized more than eighty such public projections in Australia, Austria, Canada, England, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. Since the late 1980s, his projections have involved the active participation of marginalized and estranged city residents. Simultaneously, he has been designing and implementing a series of nomadic instruments and vehicles with homeless, immigrant, and war veteran operators for their survival and communication.

University of Dayton Speaker Series 2012 – Dr. Vandana Shiva
Trained as a physicist and a philosopher, Dr. Vandana Shiva is a world-renowned expert and activist on issues of agriculture and food. She has published more than a half-dozen books on issues of gender, peace, ecology, sustainable development, water, genetic engineering, and bio-piracy. An advocate for third-world women and traditional farming practices, Dr. Shiva has worked with grassroots organizations around the world to make important changes in ecological policy and practice. She has been honored with numerous international peace, justice, and environmental awards, and in 2003, she was identified as an environmental "hero" by Time Magazine. Shiva is Director of the Research Foundation on Science, Technology, and Ecology, which she founded in India in 1997.

Environmental leader, eco-feminist, philosopher, and quantum physicist, Vandana Shiva's expertise seems to have no limits. She has become a globally respected activist for grassroots and alternative globalization movements, biodiversity, bioethics, intellectual property rights, and sustainable living. Some of her books include Staying Alive (1988), The Violence of the Green Revolution (1992), Monocultures of the Mind (1993), Biopiracy (1997), Water Wars (2002), Earth Democracy (2005), and Soil Not Oil (2008). Shiva's scholarship and activism has been recognized internationally and she has won numerous awards, including the Right Livelihood Award, considered the Alternative Nobel Prize.
