Application Assignment - Culturally Responsible Negotiation

Follow the steps below and then answer the questions that follow:

1. Visit the U.S. Department of State website (http://www.state.gov).
2. Select a country in which you are interested.
3. Review the background notes for that country. Then, think about if you were to take on the role of negotiating a business deal with a business located in that country.

Using what you have read in your textbook, and what you found in your research, answer the following questions in essay format, in a 1 page Microsoft Word document.

1. Create a list of questions you would want to have the answers to before you began negotiations.
2. Would you want, or need to, address all ten of the ways that culture can influence negotiations as outlined in your text to be successful in your negotiations?
3. Likely not, so in addition to your question list, what areas do you think would be most crucial to your success considering the country you have chosen?
4. What strategies would you want to use in the negotiations, and why?
