Information management system has been known to standardize management practice (Eessaar & Soobik, 2012). Standardization eventually creates effective use of information in the healthcare. My organization is going to benefit from such benefits through the use of information management system. Apart from that, organization and management of information is going to be made very easy, and this is very important when it comes to delivering quality services.
The mission statement for this organization is “Treat-Teach-Train.” The organization‘s mission is based on teaching and deployment platforms hospital. It also trains individuals in graduate medical and educational programs that are integrated with that of the local state university school of medicine. The use of information management system has been very important in this organization. It allows the institution to manage information appropriately, which makes it possible to treat and care for patients well and also to teach and train nurses, thereby producing nurses who are competent in a variety of areas. Integration of technology in treating patients, teaching, and training nurses has significantly improved the activities of the hospital. There is a need for this organization to be at the fore front when it comes pioneering new technology due to the many functions it carries out, that is, treating, teaching, and training.
The data collected by nurses on a daily basis are converted into information. The information is then used for knowledge. The data collected are fed into the computer system by informatics nurse who is responsible for managing information (Matney, Brewster, Sward, Cloyes & Staggers, 2011). The available information is used to support many decisions in the organization and also important during teaching and training process. The use of data-information-knowledge model has the potential to improve decision-making process when it comes to treating patients, and it also avails a wide variety of information that is important for teaching and training nurses.
